David & Shari

Married: 2011

Occupations: David is a design engineer at a large manufacturing company. Shari currently works two days a week at a local eye doctor’s office and enjoys staying at home with Andrew the other three days of the week.

Education: David has a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from a state college and is licensed as a professional engineer. Shari has an A.A.S. degree in veterinary technology.

Children already in the home: Andrew is our adopted son who is three years old. He is an active and energetic boy. He loves to run, climb, play with cars and blocks, and music. He often sings to himself when he is playing. He goes to a home daycare two days a week and likes playing with his daycare friends.

Where we live: We live in a growing neighborhood in a house built in 2013. There are many families with young children and a brand new playground only a block away. We live in a small city that has everything you need but still has a close community feel.

Ethnicity: David – German; Shari – Dutch German/Egyptian

Religious affiliation/practice: We attend a growing Assemblies of God church that has many young families and a great children’s ministry. David plays guitar in the Worship Team and we attend a small group bible study. We look forward to sharing our faith with our children and showing how much God loves them.

Overall health: We are in good health, with the exception of unexplained infertility.

Child care plan: Shari stays home 3 days a week. We plan on having our children attend a small home daycare the two days that Shari works.

School preference: We live in a community with a very good public school system. We both attended public school and plan to choose public school so our child has many opportunities for sports, music, and extra-curricular activities.

Hobbies/Interests:
David enjoys hiking, softball, volleyball, playing guitar, woodworking, and watching football in the fall.
Shari enjoys gardening, hiking, being outside, cooking, decorating, and hosting and planning parties.

Pets: We have one dog named Bogie.

Additional comments: We are so excited to share our lives and love with our children. We would love our children to be close in age and be good friends. Family is a big part of both of our lives and we are looking forward to growing ours through adoption.

Dear Expectant Parent(s),

We are David, Shari, and Andrew. Thank you for choosing life for your child. We know the decisions you are making are not easy and that the path you choose will be out of love for your child and that you want the very best for them. Thank you for reading this letter and getting to know our family.

We met towards the end of college and started dating shortly after meeting. We spent many dates rollerblading together or simply walking in different parks or trails. Once we knew we were going to share a future together we enjoyed talking about our future family. After 4 years of trying to get pregnant we started to feel God leading us to explore adoption. We were blessed to become Andrew’s adoptive parents in 2017. It was a difficult road, having gone through a failed placement before being matched with Andrew, but it has made our love for him and any future children that much stronger.

We are excited to see our family grow and make many happy memories together. We can’t wait to go on vacations, spend time playing outside, exploring parks, and simply being together as a family. Andrew will be an amazing big brother. We both grew up with a sibling and really want our children to be best friends and close in age. Shari is a great mom because she is very gentle, kind, and creative. She loves doing crafts and activities. Her “dream job” has always been to be a mom. David is a great dad because he is loving and supportive. He loves to laugh and play games. It is wonderful to see Andrew’s huge smile when his Daddy comes into the house. Shari grew up without a dad and knows David has many of the qualities she missed out on when she was a child. We will do our best to love, encourage, and always be there for your child.

If you choose us to be your child’s parents, please know we will always love them. We will do our best to meet all their needs. We promise they will not only know how much we love them, but also how much you love them. We promise you will always have a special place in our family and that we will continue to pray for you and teach your child about your loving sacrifice.

Thank you for spending the time to get to know us. We admire your courage, strength, and love for your child. We will continue to pray for you as you consider making an adoption plan.

Sincerely,
David and Shari
