Dear Expectant Parent(s),
We are so utterly humbled by the degree of love you have for your child. You have chosen to give him/her life, when others might say it’s more convenient or easier not to. That is the bravest, noblest example of sacrificial love that we can think of. Whether or not you feel like it at any given moment, you are strong, caring, courageous and a hero. It is our prayer that you will remember these truths about yourself.
Like all couples entering into marriage, we had a long list of dreams that we couldn’t wait to live out together, and at the top of that list was our dream of parenting. As we tried to start a family, each month’s excitement seemed to lead to heartbreak and disappointment. Eventually, we pursued fertility treatments. A few months into this, our prayers led us to feel God was calling us to a different adventure in parenting: becoming adoptive parents.
Being parents has been a lifelong dream for both of us. We can’t wait to share trips with our child(ren), whether around the country and just around the neighborhood. Heidi looks forward to teaching him/her to cook, playing board games, reading together, doing art projects, and building blanket forts. Jarrod loves the excitement of exploring the outdoors and can’t wait to share these adventures with our child and awaken a sense of wonder in their heart. Should you decide to bless us by choosing us to parent your child, we promise to devote our time, energy, resources, and most importantly our undivided love to your child. We promise to be sure you are held in the highest honor in our home. We will speak of you often and with fondness. He or she will learn from an early age they are precious and that they are indeed a perfect fit into our family. We would love to create an open relationship with you to the degree you are comfortable.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter. Thanks for all you are doing and will do to love and provide for your child. We really hope we get the opportunity to meet you. Back in the day when people wrote letters, Heidi’s mom always closed her letters with the same blessing. We would like to pass that blessing on to you. “May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and give you peace."
Fondly,
Jarrod and Heidi
