Jay & Kristin

Married: 2011

Children already in the home: We have two beautiful boys. Eli is 5, he was born to us biologically. Isaac is 2, we adopted him as an infant. They are very energetic and enjoy doing everything together. They love being outside, riding bikes, playing at the park, anything to do with airplanes, reading and doing art projects. They love to make each other laugh!

Occupations:
Jay is a physician in a local hospital. Kristin is a nurse, but now stays home full-time with our children.

Education:
Jay has a doctoral degree in medicine, a master’s degree in anatomy, a bachelor’s degree in zoology/pre-medicine and minors in chemistry and psychology. Kristin has two bachelor’s degrees, one in nursing and one in speech/language/hearing sciences.

Where we live:
We live in a lakeside neighborhood just outside a city. We are a short walk from our neighborhood park and a quick drive or boat ride to beautiful nature trails, beaches, restaurants and shops.

Ethnicity:
Jay – Eastern European, German  Kristin – Norwegian, Icelandic, German

Religious affiliation/practice:
We are active members of a church with a wonderful and supportive community of young families (many who have also adopted!). We nurture our faith through large and small group Bible studies and consistent Sunday morning worship.

Health:
We are all very healthy.

Childcare plan:
Kristin loves being home with our boys full-time and will continue to do so after we adopt. Jay works about 14 days per month, so he is able to be home frequently to care for our family.

School preference:
We live in a community with great education opportunities all the way through college level. We also have a vibrant homeschool community, which is what we are currently choosing due to the wonderful possibilities it provides our family for education, travel and time together. We will continue to reassess and choose the best fit for our children as they grow.

Hobbies/Interests:
Jay enjoys traveling, fitness, camping, biking, hiking, bow hunting, cross country skiing and life-long learning. Kristin enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, biking, gardening, healthy eating for the family and playing outside with the boys. The four of us love to go on bike rides, camp, travel, hike, snowshoe, boat and jetski together. We eat meals around the table together, cuddle before bedtime, play games and read lots and lots of books. We host gatherings at our home for both friends and family. And we enjoy visiting Jay’s and Kristin’s families often.

Pets:
Two cuddly indoor cats, Ziggy and Bella

Additional comments:
There are 14 children in our closest group of friends and 7 of them have been adopted! We think it is a beautiful and unique blessing to have such a vibrant, positive and healthy adoption community for our children to grow up with! All four of us are so excited to wrap our arms and hearts around a sweet little babe!

Return to Waiting Families

Dear Expectant Parent(s),

Thank you for being willing to walk this hard road. Thank you for putting such care and emotion into being certain you are making the best choice for you and your sweet baby. Your love for your child is true and deep and beautiful. We are confident this love will lead you well as you consider whether to raise your child or place him/her in another loving family’s arms through the miracle of adoption.

We would like to share with you a little about who we are. We have always dreamed of having a big family. From the day we married, the picture we painted in our minds included growing our family both biologically and through adoption! It didn’t take us long to learn the heartbreaking truth that it would be a struggle for us to get pregnant. Although this truth caused deep sadness, it felt natural to turn our hope toward adoption since it had captured our hearts from the beginning. In 2018, Isaac’s birth mother chose us to raise her son. The blessings we have been given from her selfless love and her presence in our lives are immeasurable. Now, all four of us couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity to grow our family further through adoption!

It is our greatest desire to raise our children to know and love the Lord with their whole hearts. We will guide their young hearts to learn to be compassionate and loving, to be bold and stand up for what is right and true, to be honest and trustworthy, to be joyful and confident in who they are. We will also encourage them to be silly, to laugh, to enjoy family vacations, game nights, bike rides, building forts, field trips, camping and to seek out new adventures. We will be very intentional about developing deep relationships with them based on trust, faith in each other, compassion and open communication. They will know every day that they are loved, cherished, adored and celebrated – by God who created them, by you and by us!

If you choose to give us the honor of raising your precious child, you can have confidence that we will be open with them from the very beginning about their beautiful story. We will tell them frequently that we have the treasure of loving them because you loved them first. And if you desire to have an open relationship, we would joyfully embrace your presence in our lives.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a piece of our hearts. We pray that you come to a place of peace and contentment in your difficult decisions. Let your love for your child lead the way.

All our love,

Jay and Kristin
