Nick & Rachel

Married: 2015

Children already in the home: No children in the home.

Occupations: Nick works as a high school math teacher and coaches high school basketball and baseball.  Rachel has worked as youth pastor and ministry development pastor at the same church for 11 years.

Education: Nick has a B.A.S. in secondary mathematics education and Master’s degree in teaching and learning. Rachel has a B.S. in youth development.

Where we live:  We live in a close knit community, full of young families, parks, and close to bigger cities. Our schools are known for their high quality education.

Ethnicity: Nick- Bohemian/German  Rachel- Austrian/Scandinavian

Religious affiliation/practice: We attend the Assembly of God church that Rachel also pastors at.  Our church community is like family to us.  We have a bible study that has met at our home for the last 2 years and have enjoyed getting to host and know so many through that.  Our church is growing and full of life and young families.  Families are the passion and heartbeat of our church and they do a great job of making kids feel like a priority.  Faith is the foundation of who we are and we love having a church community that helps us grow in that.

Health: Both are in great health.

Child care plan: We plan to utilize daycare or a family friend in a combination for 3.5 days a week.

School preference: Our community has excellent public schools.  We plan to send our children to them.  Nick also works in the school system as well.

Interests and hobbies:
Nick: Spending time with my wife, family, and friends.  I love to travel (especially to an area with mountains with my wife).  Hiking, biking, camping, sight-seeing, games and competition (sports, yard games, board games, cards, etc.), working out, and reading are my favorite ways of spending my time.

Rachel:  Spending time with family and friends, reading, hosting & cooking for others, watching This Is Us, making DIY projects, and traveling.

Pets: No pets at this time…we want a puppy, but trying to fight the urge!

Additional comments:  We look forward to adding to our family and all that is in store.

Dear Expectant Parent(s):

We are Nick and Rachel, and we are so thankful for you taking the time to read our letter.  We can’t imagine all that you are walking through in this time, but we are so proud of you for choosing life for your baby.  We admire your strength and courage as you have made this incredibly selfless and difficult decision.  As you read this letter we hope you get to hear our heart and know how much we respect and admire you.

Five years ago, we were working as a teacher (Nick) and youth pastor (Rachel), and our high school students introduced us to one another.  We started going on coffee dates and fell in love.  We both knew we wanted to build a family and have been open to any avenue a baby may come into our home.

We very much look forward to being parents. It is our desire to raise a little one in a home he or she will always know the love of his or her family and Creator regardless of success or failure. We dream of sharing activities, family vacations, and holiday traditions with laughter and love with this beautiful child.  Nick will be an incredible dad because he is a man of high character, loves to have fun and be active, and he loves Rachel, God and others with his whole heart.  Rachel will be an amazing mom, because she has the uncanny gift of caring, serving, and empathizing with others.  She first loves God with her whole heart, then her husband, and shows that love to all who she encounters.

If you choose us to parent your child, we would make this promise to you: We will love them unconditionally and always tell them about your incredible love for them.  Our heart would be if you desire to have an open relationship with the child, we’d support it fully.  His or her journey and story starts with you and we would want them to know you in a way you feel comfortable with.

Thank you for taking time to consider us.  You are incredibly strong and brave.  We are praying that God would bring you peace in the midst of what you are walking through as well as confidence in the decisions you are making.  We would be honored to someday meet you if you would consider us.

With Love and Admiration,
Nick & Rachel
