Russell & Cindy

Married: 2010

Children already in the home: Reece was born in 2015, joining our family through adoption. He is an affectionate child who is eager to be a big brother. He loves school and is thriving. He loves playing with his friends in a variety of settings. He is a good swimmer and participates in a variety of sports activities including soccer, flag football, and basketball. He also loves building Legos, playing soldiers and gaming on the xBox. He is helpful around the house, completing weekly chores. He loves Jesus, his family, his cat Jet, and his friends.

Occupations: Russell works for a large IT company as a Senior Technical Advisor. Cindy is a nurse but has worked from home for the last few years. She uses her nursing degree to do medical coding and volunteers at church as a faith community nurse. Both of us enjoy our jobs.

Education: Russell has a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems from a university, and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a major in Bible and a minor in music from a college. Cindy has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a university and a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music with a minor in piano performance from a college. Cindy has also obtained additional education as a medical coder.

Where we live: We live on the outskirts of a moderate sized town in a nice neighborhood. We built a new home in 2022 and absolutely love it! Our back yard is adjacent to a neighborhood park, which Reece really enjoys! Our town has a great library and lots of cultural and educational opportunities. There are lots of restaurants, shops, and things to do nearby.

Ethnicity: Russell-German/English/Scandinavian; Cindy-English/German/Spanish/Irish with trace amounts of Native American; Reece-Hispanic.

Religious Affiliation/Practice: We attend a Methodist Church and are very involved in ministry there. We are both part of the praise team, Russell as a vocalist and Cindy as a pianist. Russell serves on a committee and Cindy volunteers as a nurse. We are both active in Bible studies and Sunday School. Our church is very diverse culturally, and we really like that. The people are like family, and we love that! Reece also is active in Sunday School and Awana and has some good friends at church. Our faith is at the center of our lives, and we want our children to understand the love of God for each of them. We want to lead by example, instilling Christian principles in them.

Health: Good health for all.

Childcare Plan: Cindy is a work-from-home mom, so we will not need to seek out additional childcare on a regular basis. We do have trusted friends that help us out with babysitting upon occasion.

School Preference: Reece attends a wonderful private Christian school in the area. We plan to send all our children there. We can’t say enough good things about the school!

Hobbies/Interests: Reading, Music, Walking, Ham Radio, Family game night, Family movie night, Puzzles, Shopping, Patio Gardening and more!

Pets: We have a beautiful black cat named Jet. He is such an affectionate little guy! He and Reece are great buddies!

Dear Expectant Parent(s),

Hello! We are Russell and Cindy. We want to thank you for choosing to give the gift of life to your child. We believe that God has a special plan for both you and your child. Though we cannot completely understand what you are going through, we do know that you are making an incredibly difficult and selfless choice. It takes great courage and strength to make an adoption plan for your baby. We have the utmost admiration and respect for you and know that it is a decision born out of love for your child.

Even before we were married in 2010, we knew that we wanted to have children. One year later, Cindy was diagnosed with severe endometriosis. After a major operation to try to correct it and a subsequent unsuccessful fertility treatment, we felt that God was leading us towards adoption. We adopted Reece as a newborn in 2015 and we feel so blessed to be his parents! He lights up our world for sure! He is praying for a sibling, and we know that he will be just the best big brother! We are all anticipating adding another child to our family!

Our family is very close, and we have a lot of love to offer a child. We enjoy being together and doing things as a family. We enjoy going to parks/playgrounds, trips to the zoo, sledding, playing games, shopping and going out to eat, church activities and getting together with friends. We especially enjoy family vacations! Our favorite highlight was a trip to the Scottish Highlands in 2017, though we did not meet the Loch Ness Monster! More recently, we have traveled via Amtrack a few times, been to Winnipeg a couple of times as well as lots of local trips in North Dakota and Minnesota. Russell is a fantastic dad and Reece wants to do everything that daddy does. Russell is very patient and allows Reece to help him, teaching him to do things the right way. Cindy is a great mom, keeping homecooked meals on the table and the house clean and comfortable. Cindy also is teaching piano to Reece. We both help him with homework and are actively involved in his school. We like to encourage his unique interests and try to expose him to a variety of experiences. We encourage him to always do his best and be responsible and kind. We are looking forward to nurturing and loving another little one.

If you choose us to parent your child, we promise that we will always love and protect your child. We will dedicate our lives, just as we have with Reece, to helping him or her become the very best person they can be, reaching their full potential. We will always speak of you with honor and respect and assure them of how much you love them. We will pray for you often and are open to an ongoing relationship with you as you desire. We do not currently have an open relationship with Reece’s birth mom but that is her wish.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our letter and learn a bit about us. We hope to have the honor of meeting you soon! Though we don’t yet know you, we are praying for you every day and will continue to do so in the days ahead. May you feel Jesus near today.

Sincerely,
Russell & Cindy

"We love our little family so much and are very much looking forward to adding another little person into the mix through adoption. Though we are a distance from our extended families, we remain in close communication via Facetime and try to visit a couple of times per year. We have developed some close friends in the area, and we count them as extended family. We are looking forward to watching God’s plan continue to unfold for our lives!"
